The next date will be TUESDAY 21st May Howl is the perfect open mic to air your own songs, try some covers, sing for the first time or just sit back and listen to a showcase of fantastic local musicians. 8pm ish start. Check out www.howlopenmic.co.uk for more info Adam began performing as a guitarist from the age of 15, appearing regularly in pubs and clubs around his hometown in the South West of England. It was the classic rock and blues music of the 60s and 70s that inspired him so greatly to get out there and play, and from this young age Adam could frequently be found recreating the music of his guitar heroes on the local scene. Since then Adam has honed his craft through continually performing with various bands over the last 10 years, and with this experience is now successfully carving out a solo career. For a taste of what you’ll be in for, click here and for more info check out his website here Dorset-based singer/songwriter Jinder dubs himself a slightly upmarket version of your average whining singer/songwriter – but he’s much more than that. He’s been writing music since he was a teenager (now in his early 30s) and has played a number of festival slots – including Sidmouth Folk Festival – as well as a couple of massive gigs, one to 10,000 people at the Liverpool Echo Arena and another at the Royal Albert Hall. With the insight and lyrical excellence of Ryan Adams and Townes Van Zandt, and the vocal prowess of James Morrison and Paolo Nutini, there’s something inherently soothing about Jinder’s music. The Telegraph wrote of him: “Jinder may never capture the public imagination in the manner of the Blunts and Morrisons of this world, but he has spent the last ten years quietly crafting an exquisite back catalogue, capable of going toe-to-toe with any other releases from these shores during that time.” (Taken from Figure8Festival.co.uk) Click on the links for some of my personal highlights from his most recent album, Crumbs of Comfort - The Birds Will Still Be Singing - Westcountry Love Song - The Day That Peace Broke Out And as we won’t be reopening until March/April 2014 we also thought we’d better celebrate Chrimbo too. If that’s not enough to celebrate, it will also be Paul’s 10th year as landlord. That’s three parties in one! I’m excited….. are you? Live music with Anchor favourites Shelby’s Elbows from 9pm and the bar will be open til late!! More details to follow…..
